Additional Activities and Awards

Varsity Gymnastics, Track, and Soccer

Gymnastics: I have competed in gymnastics since a very young age. After spending my childhood competing club gymnastics, in 9th grade I began at the high school level. My freshman year I was awarded a varsity letter, all confrence, and MVP for the season.

Track: My 9th, 10th, and 11th grade years I ran track in the spring. I competed in multiple events including high jump, tripple jump, 100 m hurdles, and 300 m hurdles. Each year I was awarded a spotlight on scholarship award and varsity letter for my achievements.

Soccer: My main high school and out of school sport has always been soccer. I started playing for the high school team my freshman year. My 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years I was a varsity letter holder, and a spotlight on scholarship winner. Soccer has always been a passion of mine and I have loved growing with the game throughout the years.

Gymnastics Manager

After my freshman year I stopped competeing gymanstics to focus on my other sports. To stay involved with the sport, I became the gymnastics manager my 10th grade year. For this position I was responsible for compiling/ recording all team scores, as well as organizing additional activites and events the team took place in. I was present at every meet making sure routines and procedures ran according to plan.

While I was not in high school season playing soccer, I was competing for my club team during the offseason. I play for a competitive team in Burnsville, where I am team captain. My team won consecutive state champtionships in 2013 and 2014, before being moving up to the premiere level (the highest level in the state). Being captain for this successful team has taught me how important team-work is, and how working closely with others to accomplish a goal is on of the most rewarding experiences.

National Honor Society

I have been a memebr of National Honor Society since my 11th grade year. National Honor Society is a nation-wide organization that students apply for, and are accepted based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Through National Honor Society I have been able to provide multiple services to my community and school through volunteering. The most significant role I took on was being head of the Pennies for Patients Committee. I was the main figurehead in organizing events to raise money. National Honor Society is the most meaningful organization that I have been a part of throughout high school and it has been very impactful in my personal development. As stated, I have been given the chance to volunteer in numerous positions that otherwise would not have been available to me!

Co-President Science Outreach

My junior year I was elected as Co-president of Science outreach. This club ivolves traveling to elementary and middle schools to conduct science experiments and get young students interested in the field of science. As co-president I spoke with teachers of the schools we traveled to and was responsible with cordinating materials, times, and students to conduct fun, safe, and educational experiments. This club has been key to my understanding of the youth and has also benefited my orgaization skills.

Also in my junior year, I helped to co-found a club we named Future Leaders of Medicine. This club's main goal was to connect all indiviuals at our school that were interested in the medical field. In this club we met with a variety of medical professionals to explore different career paths and various medical related opportunities within the community. I have been a part of this club for two years now and it has provided me with a better understanding of the kinds of medical careers that are available!

Link Crew

I was a member of Link Crew my junior year, Link Crew is a club that is meant for juniors and seniors to help acclimate new freshman into the high school setting. As a Link Crew leader I was assigned a group of freshman to give advice to, show around the school, and answer any questions they had about the upcoming year. Link Crew helped teach me how to take initiative and how to be a leader. Seeing how much the younger students looked up to me was inspirational. I was awarded with honors at the end of the year for my hard-work and dedication to my link group.

Prom Committee

I was a memebr of the school's prom committee my junior year. As a member of prom committee I helped organize, set-up, and budget that year's prom. A major skill I learned from being a memer of prom committee was money management. Having a set amount that we were able to spend made us consider what was important and what was not. This can be applied to my life as I look ahead on what to spend money on in college and deciphering between what is necessary and what is not.
